Your Computer Account (SMU UserID)

You will be automatically prompted to change your password when you log on to SMU network for the first time. Alternatively, you may click on https://live.smu.edu.sg/manage.aspx to access the change password screen. Thereafter, you will have full access to all the IT resources you are entitled to. In addition, an Online Password Reset Service is also available; click here for more details.

IMPORTANT: It is critical to update all your devices (laptop, smart phone, etc) with your new password after each password change. Failure to do so will result in your account being locked due to failed log in attempts with the outdated password.

FAQ: Will my password expire?
Yes. Your password is valid for 180 days, after which, you must change the password before it expires.

Email

All Faculty and Staff have an email address with the following format:
<SMU UserID>@smu.edu.sg (e.g. marylim@smu.edu.sg)

Our IT Help Centre Engineer will assist with the necessary email configuration on your computer.

FAQ: How do I access my email in SMU?

  • Windows based computer
    Log in to SMU network, click on the Microsoft Outlook icon (located on your computer desktop) to access to your email.
  • Mac OS
    You may access your email via Microsoft Outlook.

FAQ: How do I access my email on the web?

  • You may access it directly via https://outlook.office.com or via SMU website http://www.smu.edu.sg, click connect -> Staff Email

    Computer

    Your computer will be installed with the relevant standard licensed software.
    Our Help Centre engineer will be on site to ensure proper configuration of your email & network printers.

    FAQ: Will I be issued with a new computer?

    Replacement permanent staff will inherit the computer from his/her predecessor.

    IP Phone

    All new permanent Faculty & Staff will be issued with an IP phone.

    • To make an internal call (extension), dial the last four digits of the phone number, e.g. to call 68280123, just dial 0123
    • To make an external call (e.g. 61234567), you will need to dial 9 followed by the phone number e.g. 9 + 61234567

    FAQ: How do I make a IDD call?
    You phone has to be configured appropriately in order to make IDD calls. Please send your request to IT Help centre with the below details.

    Network Printer

    Our Help Centre engineer will assist with the configuration of your departmental network printer.

    FAQ : I am using a Mac. How do I setup my network printer?

    Flex Ben

    View your Flexible Spending Account (FSA), submit your FSA reimbursements; including outpatient medical claim.

     

    IMPORTANT : HRFA requires 4 to 6 weeks to activate your FlexBen account, depending on the date you joined. You will be informed by HRFA (via email) to do your eSelection.

    Teaching Facilities

    Seminar Rooms, Flat Classrooms, Executive Media Theatre are available in SMU for different teaching and learning needs.

    We conduct sharing sessions on classroom equipment and innovations for new and existing Faculty 2 or 3 weeks before the start of each term.

    ISIS (Integrated Student Information System)

    ISIS is the Integrated Student Information System in SMU. Faculty can do the following in this system:

    • View teaching/exam schedule
    • Search for other faculty's schedules
    • Browse/Search the course catalogues
    • Submit exam requirements

    Login to ISIS.

    FAQ: How can I access ISIS ?
    You can access ISIS via https://isis.smu.edu.sg through Single Sign-On within the SMU network. To access it outside the SMU network, you would need to login with your SMU UserID and password.

    IITS supports a variety of services to faculty and students to further the University's academic and research missions, including research publications and grants, high performance computing and other research support.

    • Research Software
      Network versions for Mathematica, Matlab, and STATA, are available. We also have Stand Alone versions of SPSS and SAS. Use of these software is subjected to license availability and the respective school's approval. You may request for these software through IT Help Centre.

    • Survey Tools (Qualtrics)
      All SMU faculty, students and staff may create and distribute surveys and questionnaires with this system for teaching and research purposes.

    Students will be prompted to change his/her password as part of the online matriculation procedure. Alternatively, you can change at https://live.smu.edu.sg/manage.aspx.

    In addition, an Online Password Reset Service is also available for you to change/reset your password at your convenience; click here for more details.

    Each Student have an Email Address with the following format:

    To access to your email, login in to https://outlook.office.com with your SMU email address and password.

    IMPORTANT: Do check your SMU email regularly in order not to miss out on important information from the University

    You are strongly encouraged to purchase from our SMU Notebook/MacBook tender. Tendered Notebook/MacBook comes pre-configured & installed with SMU standard licensed software for your immediate use upon delivery.

    To start with, you will need to configure your Wi-Fi connection, student printers and install the necessary software.

    How do I request for the Standard Licensed Software?
    Using SMU tender notebook or MacBook
    The SMU standard licensed software is preloaded when you purchase your computer.

    Using non SMU tender notebook or MacBook
    Please visit IT Help Centre for the installation. The installation may take between half an hour to 3 hours depending on the software that you have requested

    Note: Each Student is only entitled to install one copy of the above software on one notebook.

    eLearn is an innovative e-learning platform used for teaching and learning in Singapore Management University.

    OASIS

    OASIS (https://oasis.smu.edu.sg) stands for On-Line Access to Student Information System and hosts various self-service services under different categories such as Study, Personal & Finances, Resources, Career Development & Community Service, Student Life and Schools & Community. Simply put, OASIS is your one-stop service centre.
    (Only students who have matriculated and activated SMU Computer Account can access OASIS.)

    You are strongly advised to log in to OASIS (with your SMU UserID and password) regularly so that you do not miss out on the important announcements and services throughout your study life.
